Two Canadian senior managers at the Starwood hotel chain have been let go as part of a corporate restructuring, the company said Tuesday.
Stephen Foster, senior VP of operations for Starwood’s Canada region, and David Ogilvie, regional VP at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, will both leave in March, the company said. Their positions were eliminated and they will not be replaced.
Mr. Foster has been with Starwood, which includes chains such as Westin and Sheraton, since 1995, and Mr. Ogilvie has worked at the company since 1980, according to their LinkedIn profiles.
“Both Stephen and David will be working with their teams to oversee a smooth transition. They have been valued leaders within our organization and we thank them for their commitment to our guests, customers and associates over the years,” the company said in a written statement.
“Starwood regularly evaluates its organization and structure to ensure that we are growing our business and utilizing resources most efficiently. These changes were part of that ongoing effort and will result in Canada reporting geographically into the West and North regions [based in Seattle and Boston] for its owned and managed portfolio.”
The Canadian division otherwise remains unchanged, the company added. The hotel is slated to open six new hotels in Canada this year, including the first international Element and the 25th Four Points in the country.
By the end of the year, Starwood’s Canadian portfolio will include 66 hotels and resorts; worldwide, the company has 1,134 properties in nearly 100 countries and 154,000 employees.
